Maigewitter,

Many thanks for sharing your grandfather's stories - especially the pictures. Is it by any chance possible that you could send me a high-resolution scan of the He 115 seaplane?

Thank and regards

Adam

Hi,

sorry hadnt the time to upload the rest of the pics, i will do this on the week end.

Concerning the He 115, yes he told me that he also was in Denmark during the war so it could be the mentioned unit.

It is a He 115 from ErgänzungsKüstefliegerGruppe (See) Kamp. Parts of this unit was stationed at Kopenhagen-See! So it is possible that the photo is taken in Denmark.

Of course we're still interested.

Can you make out the signature of the Acting Gruppenkommandeur on the Spange documentation for 15Nov43.

The Gr.Kdr. at this time was probably Friedrich Hopsspe or Günter Pannwitz depending on the source you look at, one of them took over after the loss of Helmut Orlowski on 08Nov43.

Cheers

Andy (F)

I've done a bit more digging and Friedrich Hopsspe is probably Friedrich Hoppe however he served with (F)/122 earlier in the war. Günter Pannwitz became Gr.Kdr. immediately after the loss of Orlowski.

The signature for the Frontflugspange in Bronze looks like it could be Pannwitz.
