I have been contacted by someone who is currently considering buying a set of awards documents for the above aircrew.

The papers include the following:-

EK2 18 july 41

EK1 1 august 42

recon bar bronze 24 july 41

recon bar silver 7 october 41

recon bar gold 25 march 42

recon bar gold with star 6 november 42

Airgunners badge 19 july 41

several congratulations notes for the DKIG 28 1 43 and for goblet of honour.one mentioning Schneider

also some papers with some flight info he was in Bf110 & Me210.

He flew 3 sorties in a BF110 between 23- 8- 41 and 24- 8- 41.

However, the documentation refers to Aufkl.Gr.122 while the DKiG database entries refer to Aufkl.Gr. 22. Given some additional comments provided by the iterested party I'm inclined to believe that Rudolf Gosau flew with Aufkl.Gr.122 but can anyone confirm this.

Andy - from your DKig database sources can you recheck the unit noted against Gosau please.

Hi Andy,

Gosau is listed as a Bf with 2.(F)/22, both in the alphabetical listing and unit listing. However I have found errors in the past so he may well have been with 2.(F)/122 instead. It would be an easy typo to make when transcribing the lists.

Best Regards

Andy (F)

My contact has sent the following additional information:-

"I did find the name of the pilot that he was BF on the plane I mentioned and he is on your list

LT Kurt Eulenberger DKIG 4-1-43

Any info on this pilot?"

Hi Andy,

Well that's fairly conclusive, I'll amend the database to read 2.(F)/122

As for Kurt Eulenberger all I have is what's already on the DKiG database ie. a pilot with 2.(F)/122

Best Regards

Andy (F)

I can confirm that Oberfeldwebel Rudolf Gosau was the Bordfunker flying with Flugzeugfuehrer Leutnant Kurt Eulenberger and he was definitely attached to 2.(F)/122. I have his award certificates and papers in my possession and many refer to this unit. Gosau was listed in the Ehrenliste der Ehrenpokal on 7th December 1942, having been awarded the Honour Goblet on 3rd December 1942. Gosau was listed in the Ehrenliste der DKiG on 15th February 1943, having been awarded the German Cross in Gold on 28th January 1943. Gosau survived the war and was discharged from the Luftwaffe by the British occupying forces on 17th May 1945.

Best wishes
Tim Oliver

Gents

In what seems a life time ago, I did in fact purchase this set of documents from TimO.

Should anyone require scans of any of the documents listed in the initial post, let me know and I shall gladly share them accordingly. It is a very nice group of documents and with the help of the Luftwaffedata page, I was able to put together a very nice research piece on this man.

Regards Richard.

Richard,

If you would care to share some of the scans I can put them up on the 122 site on a page on Gosau. Better still if you could also share your research piece on him that could also be put up there (full credit being given)

What do you think?

Andy

I will indeed send you the research pages in the next few days (I will be interested to see what you think as it happens!) along with some scans of the award documents, and of course please feel free to put them on the 122 pages as you see fit to do so.

Regards Richard.
