On 20 October 1942, Bv 138C-1 W.Nr.310080 K6+IK of the 2./KFlGr.406 crashed and was written off at Faroyne, Norway as the result of being attacked by (presumably) fighters.

Then, on 28/7/43, Bv 138C-1 W.Nr. 310098 DZ+EF of the 1./SAGr.131 was s/d
by fighters (?) in the area between the Shetland/Faroe Islands.

If anyone can shed any light on who the victors in these two incidents were it would be much appreciated.

Regards

Dave

Hi Dave,

There are no entries for any claims by RAF Fighter Command in Combats & Casualties for 20Oct42. Maybe a victim of Coastal Command.

No info for 28Jul43.

Do you have the names of the pilots for the two BV138s above?

Regards

Andy Fletcher

Hi Andy(F),

I don't think I have either pilot or crew names but will have a poke around and let you know if I find anything.

Thanks

Dave

Dave/Andy,

I found this on the "Luftwaffe in Norway SIG" site

20/10/42 Bv 138C-1 W.Nr.310080 K6+IK 2./KFlGr.406
Oblt. Emil Mammen (F) MIA Lt. Martin Kredel (B.) MIA Ofw. Willi Neumann (Bm) MIA Obgfr. Hans Josiger (Bf) MIA Gfr. Herbert Schiebel (Bs) MIA.

Unfortunately, there is no mention of the cause just that the plane was missing.

Dave/Andy,

On the same SIG site but on the 1943 page I found these but did not find the SAGr 131 aircraft.

However, look at the fourth item this has the same Wk Nr. as the item that you are researching Dave although the SIG site IDs it as a 406 aircraft. Rosch indicates that 2/406 became 3./SAGr 130 in July 1943 (?) although cross checking with his entry for SAGr 131 does not provide a reference to disprove this, but other elements of 406 were used to form 131 at about the same time.
