I am trying to ascertain the details of the aircraft and crew of a Blindflugschule 6 loss on 19-October-1943 which had Major Hermann Decker within the crew.

Any help whatsoever will be very well recieved indeed.

Regards Richard.

Richard,

You probably have this already

"DECKER, Hermann. 19.02.43 Hptm., trf from Lw.-F├╝hrungsstab Ia III to BFS 6. 01.08.43 at BFS 6,
promo to Maj."

From Stankey and de Zeng "Luftwaffe Officer Career Summaries"

Andy

Yes I have that snippet of info already however, I am having difficulty ascertaining details of the loss.

I have his award documents and although I have not started to research them in any detail yet, I am trying to flesh out the bones as much as I can before I do start in earnest. Consequently, the details surrounding his death are a major issue.

Any help will be very well recieved.

Regards Richard.

Richard,

IIRC Flying School losses will not be found in the normal loss returns. Hence, I cannot help on that front.

I believe that there are a separate set of documents that record Flying school losses and, I think, reference to them can be found on TOCH or LWAG. If your really lucky someone will have more details, If Larry and Douglas had details they would be found with Deckers notes in the officer career summaries. Have you looked at the other Deckers there in case there has been any miss-filing?

Your best bet would be to post this on TOCH. One of the members there - REMI - has a very comprehensive database of losses and he may be able to help you.
