Gentlemen,
Can anyone identify the emblem on the Me 110 shown below?
The only info written on the back of the original photo says
4.(H)/12,N.Afrika 1942.
TIA
Dave

Dave,
I have just found a photo of a Bf 109E-5 Trop carrying this "Running Ostrich" emblem.
This is in Ken Merrick's "German Aircraft markings 1939-45" published by Ian Allan - the photo can be found on page 96.
The full caption is as follows:-
"A captured Bf 109 E-5 Trop. with a running ostrich emblem on it's engine cowling. This aircraft has a white spinner, wingtips and rear fusalage band with a black number 10 on the latter. A sand worn narrow band of white can also be seen on the lower engine cowling. The additionalwhite tactical markings indicate that thisaircraft was amongst the last of the E models to serve in North Africa." Photo source given as P.T. Malone.

Hi Andy,
Thanks. Since my original post I came across a couple of other photos of this 110 confirming its identity.
Interestingly, I also have a copy of said 109 photo which, along with the original 110 photo came to me from a German contact some time back.
Chat with you soon.
