I have seen a photo of a DFS 228 reconnaissance vehicle, it was mounted on the back of a Do 217K.
Does anyone have any information on this airframe, also the type of cameras it carried.

Info is scarce:
The photo you saw is DFS 228 V1. It is a high atitude glider. The pilot lies in the pressurised cockpit.
The layout for cameras intended to be one or two cameras of unknown designation. The power was to be provided by a rocket engine (Walter HWK 109-501, IIRC).
There was said to be a V2 with an improved engine. One of the two was captured by US, handed over to the British, who brought it to Farnborough. Then tracks get lost. Some sources say it was sent to the US and got lost there, otheres say it was scrapped in GB around 1946/47.

I would suggest you read "Horst Lommel, Geheimprojekte der DFS - Vom Höhenaufklärer
bis zum Raumgleiter" (german) on this matter.
