Does anyone have any info on this particular officer? I'm after when he took over and from whom as StaKa of 1.(F)/100, the date of his death (apparently sometime in February 1945) and the details of the aircraft in which he met his end. I'm assuming it was an Ar 234.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to KTB Gen. d. Aufkl. Hptm. Holert transferred from 1(F)/33 to 1(F)/100 26.02.45. He swapped with Hptm. Hattan who went to 1(F)/33. Holert was still alive 06.03.1945!

Hptm Hermann Holert, Staffelkapitän of an unspecified recce unit was awarded the DKiG c.01Jan45.

Is this the same individual?

Best Regards

Many thanks Junker. Do you know which unit he was Staffelkapitän of when awarded the EP. I have a Hptm Holert (presumably Hermann) as St.Kap. 3.(F)/22 (as of Jun44).

Cheers

Thanks guys,

However, I recently have been in contact with Dr Walter Carlien (rank not stated, but presumably a Hptm) of 1.(F)/100 who states in a letter:

"Nach dem Weggang des Staffelkapitäns Marquardt (zu einem Stab) kam Hauptmann Holert, der Februar 45 über Augsburg in der Startphase abgeschossen wurde. Dann kam für wenige [illegibile] Tage ein Hauptmann Cech, und dann ich."

My German is far from perfect, but as I understand the above it doesn't match Holert's stated replacement, nor does it seem to indicate Holert lived beyond 28.02.45.

Any help sorting out either my poor German or a logical sequence would be great

TIA

Adam

Translation:
"After StKpt. Marquardt transferred to a Stab, Hptm. Holert took over command who in february was shot down while starting from Augburg! For a few days a Hptm. Cech took over and then i took command!"

Well Dr Walter Carlien is probably telling this from memory? And he is wrong about the dates and names. That Hattan was in command is veryfied through the KTB Gen. d. Aufklärer dating from 01.01.45-26.03.45 and Hattans Flugbuch! Secondly a List of commanders of Aufklärer-units dated 06.03.45 still have Holert in command of 1(F)/100! In the KTB it is mentioned every time a unit shifts commander, and also losses of such! And Holert is not reported lost in the timeframe! There is no Hauptmann with the name Carlien in the list: Luftwaffenrangliste from 1945!! And a Hptm. Cech or a similar name is also not present! And in the Kriegsgräbernachweis there is no Hermann Holert listet as killed!

Sadly no but i can say that he was promoted to Hptm. 01.08.1942! A bit strange that he still was Hptm. in 1945?

Thanks again Junker. It does seem rather a long time to stay a Hptm, maybe he messed up at some time in his career.

Cheers

Just for info.

I have a Hptm Marquardt as St.Kap. 1.(F)/100 (as of 06Jul43)

and as a possible contender for Hptm Cech

Hptm Hans Schech St.Kap. 1.(F)/Ob.d.L. received DKiG 15Mar43.
1.(F)/Ob.d.L. was re-designated 1.(F)/100 on 27Jan43 so Hans Schech may have served with 1.(F)/100.

Best Regards

Andy (F)

Hi Adam,

I have difficulty remembering stuff from last week, so I hate to think what I would be like trying to remember what happened over 60 yrs ago.

If you find out any new info on any of the names mentioned above let us now as it would be good to compile an accurate list of Staffelkapitäne for 1.(F)/100 and details of their careers.

ie Hptm Marquardt - all I have for him is what I posted, no first name, no decorations, can't even remember the original source stating he was St.Kap. 1.(F)/100!

Best Regards

Andy (F)
