Erich,

Just getting to grips with my new laptop.

Will have a delve into the notes that I have got on 3/123 and see what I can find.

thanks Andy I made a mistake the pilot was flying a He 177 out of his base at Monte-de Marsan next to Ju 290's of FAGr 5, and crashed. the pilot was from Wekusta 2. ok friend what is in the databank on Wekusta 2 may I ask ? He seems to have been a successful weather-recon pilot flying Ju 88D-1's maybe earlier the He 111 on Ocean recon ops with Wekusta 2.

thank you

Erich,

Cannot find him in Kington and Selinger's "Wekusta" personnel listings for Westa 2 ObdL. Also not listed in the index of this book.

Will see if there is anything in "Die Grosser Dessauer".

Erich,

Found something small in "Wekusta".

22 July - "a Wekusta He 177 crashed after take offon one of the last missions from Mont-de-Marsan. The entire crew were killed, including K├╝spert, whose position as Senior Met Observer was not replaced.

Nothing in the other book.

Will see if there is any mention in Griehl's He 177 book.

Erich,

Had a moment of inspiration while shaving this morning......

I remembered that I had a copy of a series of articles on Westa 2 ObdL taken from Avions 162 & 163

In the article there is further mention of the 22 July crash - but more importantly photos of the gravestones of all 6 of the crew of this He 177.

The gravestones give name, rank, DOB and DOD.

Can't think why Selinger and Kington did not have this information.

If you would like the pages let me know otherwise later today I will post the data here.
