I'm an italian researcher lookin for clarifling some wrecks in my area,
Tuscany.
I was able to discover the wrecksite of a Ju88T1 from 1(F)/123 W.Nr.430913,
4U+GH lost in june 44 near Cortona, and I have a report of another loss in
my area the 22nd of jenuary 1944. Another crash is reported in Castiglion
fiorentino area at that time...
Basically I would have access to database of losses of 123, but I cant
register or just have a look there.
May you help me?
Best regards, Andrea
Andrea - unfortunately, I was unable to reply as you did not include an e-mail address - when an e-mail is sent via the forum it gives the forum mail address and not the users.....
Here is some information that may be of assistance
Date Unit Aircraft Type Code Wkr.No. Notes
8 Jun 1944 1(F)./123 Ju 88T-1 4U+GH 430913 Shot down by Spitfires of 451 Sqdn near Pistoia. Obfhr. Scherf and three crew killed.
9 Jun 1944 – At 0222 1(F)./123 flew a long range mission from Perugia to photograph Bizerta and Ferryville, landing at Istres after being aoft for eight hours! 1(F)./123 also moved a Ju 88 (4U+BH) from Perugia to Bergamo.
This appears on the June 1944 page of the AufklGr 122 diary -
http://www.luftwaffedata.co.uk/wiki/index.php?title=Aufkl._Gr._122_Jun_1944 as 1(F).123 was subordinate to Stab 122 at that time.
I don't have anything for Jan 1944 - but that is not unusual. Please note that Luftwaffe Loss records for 1944 were themselves lost / destroyed.
Hope that the above is of some help.
