Hi,

Here are a few operations extracted from BA-MA RL 2 II/302:

Night 30 April/1 May 1943

Seven aircraft operated under Nachtjagdraumführer Sizilien, including two on S-Boot Jagd, and four on nightfighter operations in the area Trapani-Marsala, with one aircraft operating in the area of Tunis. All missions were without success. First take-off was at 20:05, and the last landing at 05:55.

Operating under II. Fliegerkorps, a Ju 88 of 1.(F)/122 took off at 16:35 and landed at 20:36 after undertaking sea reconnaissance to the coastal area of Bone to Algiers, with the concentration point being 03 Ost 7875 where a convoy had been reported. The mission was carried out without sightings, with bad weather being an issue.

A Ju 88 of A.Gr. 122 took off at 20:00 and landed at 00:36, flying south and south-east reconnaissance and protection of an Axis convoy. This was a mission under II. Fliegerkorps.

Operating under II. Fliegerkorps, at 21:00 a He 111 of K.G. 26 took off to fly sea reconnaissance of the western Mediterranean, landing at 03:48.

Under X. Fliegerkorps a Ju 88 of L.G. 1 flew a Lichtenstein mission to detect an enemy convoy, but found nothing. There was an enemy night fighter in 23 Ost 1461, but this was avoided by course change.

At 03:48 two Ju 88s of 2.(F)/123 took off to fly a mission, operating under X. Fliegerkorps. They carried out sea reconnaissance against enemy convoys off Cyrenaika. However, due to engine problems they broke off, and landed at 05:33 and 06:00.

One Ju 88 of Westa 26 under X. Fliegerkorps flew a weather reconnaissance mission to the Nile Delta starting at 03:28. There were no enemy sightings.

Day 1 May 1943

At 09:00 a Ju 88 of 1.(F)/122 flew sea reconnaissance Algiers – Alboran. Reconnaissance was unsuccessful due to bad weather. The aircraft landed at 15:41.

At 18:15 three destroyers were seen in 03 Ost 8843, course 110 degrees.

At 06:24 a Ju 88 of 2.(F)/123 under X. Fliegerkorps took off to fly sea reconnaissance against enemy convoys off Cyrenaika. The aircraft broke off early due to technical problems and landed at 07:09.

Between 07:48 and 09:45 a Ju 88 of 2.(F)/123 flew a mission on reconnaissance off the coast of Cyrenaika against enemy convoys, but three three destroyer aircraft were met, hindering the mission.

At 08:38 a Ju 88 of 2.(F)/123 took off for reconnaissance of enemy convoys off the coast of Cyrenaika, but there were no sightings, due to heavy mist.

At 10:54 a Ju 86 of 2.(F)/123 took off to fly a reconnaissance mission to Alexandria. However, due to bad weather the mission was broken off.

Bf 109 G-4 W.Nr 14 916 of 2.(F)/123 made a forced landing in, or presumably near, the Guduras Bight, Crete, due to lack of fuel after a combat mission, and suffered 80 per cent damage.

Cheers,
Andrew A.
