I have come across reference to this unit in relation to the Budapest airlift operations conducted in January/February 1945.

Morzik records elements of Schleppgruppe 2 being available for operations for the airlift.

DFS 230 gliders were used at Budapest some 12 gliders were lost and a further 36 expended (landed in Budapest and not recovered) during this operation.

Can anyone shed any light on this unit - SchleppStaffelzbV Reich - it's composition and responsibilities etc.
